A Bitcoin wallet that hasn’t been active for close to nine years has moved all of its 616 BTC to a different wallet today, marking its first move in almost a decade.
On December 10th, 2012, the wallet received 616.2004 BTC. Since BTC had a value of $13.30 at that point, the transaction was worth $8,195 then. Bitcoin has grown considerably in value ever since and the same amount is worth $29.4 million right now.
Nine years ago, many investors didn’t know a lot about Bitcoin and didn’t know what to expect from it or how far its price could grow, so many traded it as if it was chump change. But things have changed, obviously, and people who owned some Bitcoin back in the day have now become Bitcoin whales.
