Bitcoiners Are Crowdfunding Anti-FUD Documentary Film

As a result of the negative news that has plagued Bitcoin recently, especially the ones about its impact on the environment, a group of investors have decided to crowdfund a FUD-fighting documentary film.

The goal of this project was revealed by Brad Mills, investor, podcast host, and a huge fan of Bitcoin, on Twitter. He mentions that the aim of the documentary is to become the “definitive” argument for “why Bitcoin will transition the world to renewable energy faster than governments.”

Jamie King Set to Direct

Jamie King will fill the director’s seat, as he has previously worked on “Steal This Film,” a docuseries about BitTorrent. King revealed that the story of Bitcoin’s energy consumption convinced him to accept the project:

“The idea for this new project, which we’re raising funds for right now, came about as a result of the increasing amount of attention being paid to Bitcoin’s energy usage. Obviously, this came to a head with Elon’s announcement about not accepting BTC for his cars for the time being — but it’s also a piece of ‘FUD’ we’re seeing repeated with greater and greater intensity.”

It is actually really hard to determine how much energy Bitcoin mining is using, but King isn’t trying to present the King of Crypto as a clean, green technology:

“I think it’s important to acknowledge Bitcoin uses energy. A lot of it. That’s part of its design. The question we need to ask is: is it worth it.”

King has declared that those who have answered the question instantly with “no,” have most likely not done their research and that “in a broader social, political and economic context” the case for the energy consumption registered by Bitcoin is self-evident.

The crypto community is pretty keen on the idea of this documentary, and it raised .5 BTC in only two days.

King has also made it clear that the goal of the documentary is to simply educate and elevate people: “I don’t just want to counter the idea that this is a ‘waste of energy,’ but make something that inspires people about just what an amazing thing Bitcoin is. FUD-busting with a higher purpose!”
