Coinbase Adds Chrome Extension for Wallet App to Help Improve DeFi Access

Everybody has been talking about DeFi for quite some time now, but not everybody knows how to use it, which means not everybody gets to enjoy it. This is why Coinbase has taken a step in making the Wallet app (a tool that can be used to navigate DeFi) easier to use with a Chrome browser plug-in.

The Coinbase Wallet was created in 2018 but it has worked only by accessing dapps like Uniswap from within the Wallet app on the users’ phones. A year later, a feature that lets you access desktop sites by scanning a QR code was added, but even Coinbase recognized that it was rather “tedious.”

“The new extension allows for instant access to dapps on desktop—after linking your Wallet account to the extension once, you are free to browse all dapps with one click. This includes accessing thousands of cryptocurrencies, trading on decentralized exchanges, earning interest and collecting NFT,” mentions the official blog post.

Sid Coelhu-Prabho, the Coinbase senior product manager, has declared that Wallet users now have the possibility of utilizing a one-time set-up to access several dapps using Chrome. A notification will also be sent to the user’s phones so that transactions can be verified, a step which was taken to improve security.

Coelhu-Prabhu commented that the DeFi experience, in its current form, is “not mainstream ready” and even made a comparison between it and the dial-up internet service. Still, he believes that things will change in the months to come.
