Ethereum Art Collective PleasrDAO Bought the Unique Wu-Tang Album

The unique album released by Wu-Tang Clan in 2015, “Once Upon a Time in Shaolin,” which also features a duet with Cher, has found its home in the world of digital art.

The album was initially bought by pharma executive Martin Shkreli but was later repossessed by the US government after Shkreli was sent to prison for securities fraud. Now, the album is owned by NFT investment collective PleasrDAO, as confirmed by the group itself today. It was also revealed that the album was bought for $4 million.

The group also acquired Edward Snowden’s NFT for $5.4 million in April.

The Wu-Tang album can’t be made commercially public, legally, until 2103; remixes, other recordings, streamed, or being played in front of a large audience is strictly forbidden.

But the group wants to “bring the album back to the people,” with probably curating listening parties around the world that would let people hear the 31-track album while still keeping in line with the legal requirements.
