Hollywood Stars to Receive NFTs in Recognition of Upcoming Awards Ceremony

Nomine(eth) plans to distribute NFTs in the gift bags of 25 thespians and directors who have received nominations this award season for their feature films. Nomine(eth) is created as a collaboration between Rarible, Metaversal, and AdVenture Media.

25 people from the 115 that were nominated for an Academy Award in 2021 will receive the NFTs in an unofficial gift bag. These 25 people are those nominated for best actress and best actor, best supporting actress and supporting actor, and for best director.

The digital pieces are created by Jon Noorlander, Shaylin Wallace, and Rocco DiSpirito, to name a few, and will be minted with the names of those who were nominated in their respective category. The winner of a category will receive an extra NFT that will be auctioned off on Rarible.

It has been reported some or all of the proceeds will go to a charity of their choice. As NFTs do not exist physically, a ticket will be added to the bag so that the nominees can claim their gift via a Portis wallet.

“The motivation to distribute NFTs in the gift bags was to show what can be done with NFTs, raise awareness for the charitable causes that we’re supporting and pay tribute to the tremendous achievement that these nominees have achieved,” commented Yossi Hasson, co-curator of the project. “[We’re] inviting them to co-own that moment with some of the most inspirational digital artists and the public that purchase their works.”

Among the NFTs is a tribute piece to Chadwick Boseman created by 3D animator Andre O’Shea. Boseman passed away in August 2020 and is nominated for Best Actor in “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.” The proceeds from this NFT auction, for example, will go to the Colon Cancer Foundation, as Boseman passed away because of this disease.
