Hong Kong-Based Crypto Exchange May Become FC Barcelona’s T-Shirt Sponsors

A crypto exchange based in Hong Kong may become the next shirt sponsor of Fútbol Club Barcelona. The deal is appreciated to be worth more than €60 million/year, which represents around $70 million. It is rumored that the entity in question is DSDAQ and that it will be backed by investors from Silicon Valley.

The collaboration was revealed by Tony Freixa, one of the leading candidates for FC Barcelona’s presidency:

“We are in very advanced conversations with a possible sponsor of the jersey from season 22-23 that would pay 60 million per season, the sponsorship plus High in the world of football, which together with the 250 million for ‘Barça Corporate’ will mean we recover income.”

It seems that the agreement will become official only if Freixa wins the polls this coming Saturday. The sponsorship will start in 2022-2023 and would carry on for five seasons. The deal may accelerate crypto-adoption worldwide, especially if its star, Lionel Messi, decides to remain with the team.

Unlike other shirt sponsors, DSDAQ is working on forgoing the display of its logo during all games that FC Barcelona plays. A distinctive feature of the sponsorship would be that the team can play with “clean shirts” or without any advertising on the chest of the players.

“If we talk about the possibility that in home games the team plays without advertising on the shirt is because we understand the identity of Barça and we want to favor it,” declared Erik Aaron Lara, the European Co-CEO of DSDAQ.

Lara opinionated that the partnership with FC Barcelona would be the flagship for the crypto firm’s operations in Europe: “We want to expand and we believe that we could form a great alliance with Barça. We can provide many solutions, not only marketing but also financial.”
