Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park Raised $30,000 From Ethereum NFT

Linkin Park rapper Mike Shinoda has released his very own NFT, following in the footsteps of fellow rappers Lil Yachty, Soulja Boy, and DJ and producer Carl Cox. This is Shinoda’s first digital collectible piece.

“And Got So Far”

The digital art piece, which bears the name “One Hundredth Steam,” will be available in an action on Zora. Zora is an exchange that lets you acquire limited-edition art and similar products.

Zora allows people to bit on the items they like by using several currencies. Since Shinoda listed the digital art piece during the weekend, it has already received offers as high as $30,000.

The musician has announced that the $30,000 will be donated as a scholarship that he funds at the ArtCenter College of Design.

This NFT includes music that was made by Shinoda. He went on to say that listing an item by this method would surely prove to be more lucrative compared to the traditional way of releasing music.

His fans went to Twitter to talk about the release, and the responses seem to be divided. Shinoda commented:

“It doesn’t matter if you think a current bidding price is too high for a digital collectible. It matters that one person thinks the [sic] price is worth it.”

As mentioned, Shinoda isn’t the first artist to get involved in the NFT. Just days prior, rapper Soulja Boy minted his very own first piece. In the past, rapper Lil Yachty raised $16,050 for his first collectible, while house music DJ and producer Carl Cox also released music as a token similarly to how Shinoda did it now.
