Newegg May Soon Accept Shiba Inu

Newegg, the online electronics retailer, has received attention from the Shiba Inu community after a tweet in which it mentioned developer Shytoshi Kusama and the official Twitter account of SHIB, looking to start a conversation.

Following the tweet, the Twitter Shiba Inu community has gone to speculate that the commercial giant has decided to accept payments for $SHIB. Newegg is already accepting DOGE, the competitor of SHIB, and OG Bitcoin. On top of that, several tokens such as Bitcoin Cash, Ether, Litecoin, Dai, and Wrapped BTC, but also stablecoins such as BUSD, USDC, PAX, and GUSD, can also be used for payments at Newegg.

Newegg was already in the crypto news cycle this week after its Black Friday offer that included a crypto discount. Newegg offered a discount of 20% on products paid for in crypto through BitPay. The promotion was available in several countries, such as the UAE, Australia, and the UK, and was applied only to orders worth more than $500, with discounts up to $200. Among the products available for the offer we can mention hard drives, CPUs, and graphics cards.

Shiba Inu was also in the news recently as AMC, the largest movie theatre chain in the US has decided to accept it as a form of payment. AMC is already accepting payments in Bitcoin, Ethereum, and other cryptos. Adam Aron, the CEO of AMC, revealed the news on Twitter on Tuesday. BitPay will be in charge of processing the payment. Therefore, it became BitPay‘s first-ever client to accept Shiba Inu.

Aron declared:

“I can confirm today that we have been exploring with third parties over the past few months both how we can accept cryptocurrency and if it is feasible for AMC to consider even launching our own cryptocurrency.”
