NFT Sales Have Reached Nearly $900 Million Over the Past 30 Days

August has witnessed a significant increase in NFT sales so far, with new data showing that they have reached almost $900 million over the past 30 days. CryptoPunks and Axie Infinity account for most of the sales.

Until now, this year’s May has been the best month for NFT sales which hit the $255 million level. Non-fungible token sales have tripled over the past 30 days, turning August into a record month. We wouldn’t be surprised to see them exceed $900 million by the end of this month, given that major firms have started to experiment with NFTs lately.

CryptoPunk sales were at the center of all this, with $397 million being spent on the pixelated punks in August.

This week, payments giant Visa revealed that it had purchased a “CryptoPunk” for nearly $150,000 in ETH. The head of crypto at Visa, Cuy Sheffield, said that CryptoPunks have come to be a “cultural icon for the crypto community.” He added: “With our CryptoPunk purchase, we’re jumping in feet first. This is just the beginning of our work in this space.”
