Prada Is the Most Recent Fashion House to Introduce NFTs

On Thursday, Prada, the Italian luxury fashion house, will introduce its first solo NFTs, which will be available for 24 hours with the purchase of a physical item.

The NFT will be part of Prada’s ongoing Timecapsule effort, which began in December 2019 and sees limited-edition physical products released on the first Thursday of each month on the brand’s e-commerce site.

The shirts that go on sale on Prada’s website on Thursday will include a free NFT that is shaped like a pill capsule and is backed by the Ethereum blockchain. There will be a total of 100 shirts and NFTs available.

Cassius Hirst, son of NFT artist Damien Hirst, designed the black or white button-down unisex shirts. The related NFT will be the drop’s serial number as well as an item number for each actual shirt.

The NFTs will grant owners exclusive access to perks and experiences, which will be unveiled on Prada’s new Discord server “Prada Crypted,” which will also start on Thursday.

Prada’s latest NFT drop is the result of the Aura Blockchain Consortium, a nonprofit created by LVMH, Prada, and Cartier. Quorum, an Ethereum-based enterprise blockchain service, is used by Aura.
