It is well established by now that the interest of Americans in crypto grew in 2020, which is what a survey by the Winklevoss-ran crypto exchange, Gemini, has confirmed.
The results show that Bitcoin continues to be the most popular digital asset, but that Americans have larger on-average positions in ETH, BCH, or LTC. We all know by now that 2020 was an important year for the crypto sphere, as the COVID-19 pandemic helped many institutions greet the idea of crypto.
American Crypto Investors Tend to Be Between 25 and 44 Years Old
The survey tried to find out if the demand for crypto has increased. It discovered that about 14% of all participants have bought digital assets. The majority of them were men (74%), while women represented just 26%. Regarding age, the survey found out that most crypto investors are between the ages of 25 and 44 years old.
Gemini declared: “our data show that the ‘average’ cryptocurrency owner is a 38-year-old male making approximately $111,000 a year.” 63% of the respondents have classified themselves as being “crypto curious”. Meanwhile, 23% have labeled themselves as being “disinterested.”
The report has also shown that Bitcoin continues to be the most popular crypto for US citizens. Almost all survey respondents declared that they were familiar with Bitcoin, while 38% declared that they knew of ETH.
87% of those who have already purchased crypto declared they own Bitcoin. Ether was in second place with 36%, followed by Bitcoin Cash with 22%, and Litecoin with 21%. But the average value owned – representing the USD funds that are actually used for those coins – came with different results.
The USD amount worth of Bitcoin was around $8,500, in contrast with $11,000 for BCH and over $10,000 in ETH. For LTC, the number was $9,000.
