Uniswap v3 Ready for Layer-Two Scaling on Arbitrum and Optimism

The votes are in, and the Uniswap community wants to launch v3 on layer-two scaling solution, Arbitrum.

Hayden Adams, the creator of Uniswap, confirmed today that there were 41.35 million votes in favor of this move and zero votes opposing. He also mentioned that they were already working on the deployment and design part.

Arbitrum raised $3.7 million two years ago with the goal of exploring smart contract scalability. It launched the first Rollup system for Ethereum in the early months of 2020.

What’s truly important is the fact that Arbitrum claims it has reached a reduction in gas costs of 55 times for its testnet port of Uniswap v2 in November 2020. It allegedly supports 390 swaps per second, which is a huge difference from the only seven that are registered on the Ethereum mainnet.

Adams has declared that the Uniswap team is “incredibly excited” for the release of rival layer-two scaling solution, Optimism, and mentioned that there are plans for an Optimism deployment in “the near future.”

Optimism raised $25 million in a funding round in February but announced a month later that the launch would be postponed with a “rough estimate” for the mainnet launch being the month of July.
