Scott Conger, the mayor of Jackson, Tennessee, has revealed on Twitter that he is planning on turning the city into a Bitcoin hub: “Jackson TN is in a prime position to lead the way in cryptocurrency adoption.”
“Local government will lead the way in bitcoin adoption, and along with it, usher in a new industrial revolution with sustainable economies that will help close the wealth gap,” reads a tweet from the mayor on Wednesday. “Utilizing dollar-cost averaging in appreciating assets, like cryptocurrency, is one way we bridge the wealth gap and financially empower people.”
He also tweeted on Tuesday using the hashtags BTC, ETH, and LTC: “We’re exploring payroll conversions for our employees. Even more exciting – we’re seriously exploring mining bitcoin to add to our balance sheet.”
Even more, the mayor changed his Twitter profile pic to one with laser eyes, a meme used by people who are laser-focused on Bitcoin’s price rising to $100,000.
