The much anticipated Ethereum upgrade is getting closer to its launch as developers have established a date for the Altair upgrade – around October 27th.
Altair will be the first mainnet upgrade to the Beacon Chain. The plan is to release it at epoch 74240 or about October 27th.
Danny Ryan, the Ethereum Foundation researcher, said:
“This upgrade brings light-client support to the core consensus, cleans up beacon state incentive accounting, fixes some issues with validator incentives, and steps up the punitive params as per EIP-2982.
EIP-2982 will introduce “punitive parameters” to make sure that the PoS protocol will be economically secure. The proposed penalties will be “slashing” and “inactivity leak.”
