Kenyan Athlete and Olympic Champion Eliud Kipchoge Gets $40K in ETH After He Auctioned NFTs of ‘Key Moments’

Kenyan Olympic winner and world record holder, Eliud Kipchoge, has recently auctioned off some NFTs, the first he’s ever made, for a total of 17.9837 ETH tokens. The auction took place on the NFT marketplace Opensea and focused on key moments in his career.

One of them, his record-breaking run in Vienna from 2019, scored $14.8837 ETH, while his 2013 Berlin Marathon run gained 3.1 ETH ($6,500 at the current rate).

Kipchoge wrote on Twitter that he was grateful some of the key moments of his career were available as NFTs now:

“I can say that I am really grateful to have the highlights of my career now available as NFT. I hope it will give someone around the world the same positive memories as it does to me.”

It was reported that “Momentible.io created the NFT artwork in collaboration with Kipchoge. The video message is the official approval and authentication stamp that it is indeed from Kipchoge himself.”

Kipchoge is known for being the first person to complete the 42 km and 195 m run in less than 2 hours during “the INEOS 1:59 Challenge in 2019 in Vienna” and for winning a gold medal at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in 2016.
