Mick Jagger Is Selling NFTs to Raise Money for Indie Music Venues

Mick Jagger, the lead singer of The Rolling Stones, has joined the NFT boom in order to help independent music venues that have suffered as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Jagger confirmed yesterday that he began a 24-hour auction on Nifty Gateway featuring an NFT based on a new song that was recorded in collaboration with Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters. The digital piece was created by artist Oliver Latta (aka Extraweg), and it contains a loop of a figure running through two human heads.

The song “Eazy Sleazy” by Jagger and Grohl can be heard in the background.

According to the announcement, “The 30-second audiovisual piece evokes a surreal essence of breaking through the barriers of the human mind and pushing forward on the brink of social collapse to provide a much-needed moment of artistic relief as the world slowly transitions out of lockdown.”

The proceeds from the auction will be used to raise money for independent music venues in the US and the UK via local charity groups Music Venue Trust and the National Independent Venue Association. A part of the proceeds will also be used for environmental causes.

Currently, 12 people have made a bid for the NFT, with the highest offer having a value of $8,988.
