OpenSea, the NFT marketplace, was the number one in gas consumption on Ethereum over the previous 24 hours, flippening Uniswap, which usually holds the top spot.
Starting with 2020’s “DeFi Summer,” Uniswap, which is the largest decentralized exchange on Ethereum, has kept to the top spot for most daily transactions fees, which indicates the actual usage of the Ethereum blockchain.
But as NFTs continue to make a splash, OpenSea reached the top spot with more than $1.9 million in gas spent on transactions fees yesterday. Meanwhile, Uniswap v2 and v3 combined recorded $1.57 million in transaction fees.
This is due to the recent launch of several NFT projects, such as Pudgy Penguins, Space Poggers, and Sad Frogs District.
According to Glassnode, projects such as OpenSea may record $1 billion in volume this month with a run rate of 300,000 unique users.
