The Bitcoin network will enjoy smart contracts thanks to Dfinity Foundation’s Internet Computer blockchain, which would break new ground in the crypto sphere.
Internet Computer will use its chain key cryptography in order to make the integration of Bitcoin possible, which would open the door for smart contracts with native BTC addresses that are hosted directly on Internet Computer.
The founder and chief scientist of Dfinity Foundation, Dominic Williams, said:
“Internet Computer smart contracts will gain access to bitcoin liquidity, and Bitcoin will gain powerful new smart contract functionality, without the need for insecure and cumbersome trusted bridging services.”
Smart contracts on Internet Computer are to include associated BTC addresses which would offer them direct access to transactions on the Bitcoin blockchain.
A transaction can be completed in two seconds on Internet Computer compared to 40 minutes on Bitcoin.
