Adidas Originals Climbs to the Second Place on OpenSea Rankings With First NFT Collection

The first NFT project from Adidas Originals, “Into the Metaverse,” grossed 11,391 Ether ($43 million) on OpenSea, in its first week, which ranks it second on the website by trading volume, being surpassed only by RTFKT’s Clone X and Takashi Murakami collection.

Adidas Originals co-created one digital asset by partnering up with Bored Ape Yacht Club, money, and PUNKS Comic, with 30,000 copies of the item being put for sale on December 17th. Around 20,000 copies of the Phase 1 NFT have already been sold out.

$15.5 million were grossed during the Early Access mint that experienced some technical difficulties when it was launched due to Mutant Ape Yacht Club not being able to mint.

The NFT doesn’t represent a collector’s item, but it is instead an access token that offers its owner exclusive access to virtual wearables in the Sandbox gaming metaverse. It will also let its holders redeem the corresponding physical products next year.

Those owning the NFT were also promised a physical version of the PUNKS Comic Issue 2: X Marks the Drop.
