Bored Ape Yacht Club Artist Seneca Premieres New Ethereum NFTs

All Seeing Seneca, the artist who bought up the famous Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) collection premiered today a new set of NFTs at Dfinity’s Iconoclast gallery event at Art Basel Miami.

The release was long-awaited since BAYC is so popular – after all, the collection (taking into consideration Mutant Apes and Bored Ape Kennel Club as well) has grossed more than $1 billion dollars in total sales. Celebrities like Lil Baby, Post Malone, and Jimmy Fallon own items from the collection.

Seneca’s style is known for blending bright, cartoon-like designs with surrealism. This new collection stands out for being softer than the iconic BAYC creations although they have psychedelic and body horror elements. Four of the pieces were listed on the OpenSea page of Seneca and one piece will go to be auctioned in 2022. Two of the artworks are animated and three are static.

The NFTs were minted on Ethereum but are actually hosted on Internet Computer since this blockchain permits working with files of larger sizes but it still lets NFTs be acquired and sold with Ethereum on trading platforms such as OpenSea.

One of the items from the collection, “Can I be M0ther?” references the famous BAYC and went on auction today, where the highest bid now stands at 3.1 ETH. It will remain on auction until December 11.
