Matrix NFTs and Baby Shark Take The World By Storm

High demand for NFTs representing the new Matrix film has led to the crashing of the website’s purchasing page.

Recently, Warner Bros. confirmed it plans to drop 100,000 unique Matrix-inspired avatar NFTs for $50 as part of the promo for the new Matrix movie, called Matrix Resurrections, which will be released in theaters just before Christmas, on December 22nd.

Over 300,000 people were interested in the drop on November 30th, which meant Nifty had to stop and restart the queue several times due to “infrastructure issues.”

Following the pausing of the queue several times, other problems began, like users being moved up and down the queue, issues with the buy button, and even failed transactions at checkout.

Currently, 347,133 people are still in the waiting queue and the problems haven’t been resolved, although Nifty confirmed it is currently working on them. For the inconvenience, Nifty will offer every person who queued on November 30th a free “glitch in the Matrix NFT.”

Tokenized Baby Sharks

Pinkfong, the creators of the viral song “Baby Shark,” has confirmed it is launching a collection of NFTs that present content seen in the music video.

The collection will include a 1/1 and five limited editions, with the NFTs featuring the Baby Shark characters and its five family members in animated and holographic GIFs that will feature new background music.

The auction will take place on December 3rd. As of now, the starting price hasn’t been confirmed yet, but we do know that the highest bidder will become the owner of a one-of-a-kind vinyl record of the music that is part of the NFT.

MBA students raise $3K for scholarship fund

$3,000 were raised by a group of Masters of Business Administration students from the Paris branch of the INSTEAD graduate business school. The money was raised for the Robin Hood Scholarship fund through an NFT sale.

Four students made a Nyan Cat-like NFT, “RobinGood #1,” which presents Robin Hood as he rides a salamander – the salamander is part of the logo of the school.

The auction was in fiat so that all students could take part in it. The NFT was sold for 2,600 Euros, or about $3,000, and was minted on OpenSea.

One of the creators said:

“It is an amazing feeling that we were able to use this technology to contribute to a good cause. I hope this encourages other people to further explore the positive impacts that blockchain-based technology can deliver.”
