Vitalik Buterin States That “Facebook’s Metaverse Will Be A Bomb”

Any “present efforts by companies” to create a prosperous Metaverse are met with skepticism by Vitalik Buterin. Any business attempting to create the Metaverse today, according to him, will fail.

On Sunday, he made the suggestion that businesses attempting to establish the Metaverse are unlikely to succeed in a tweet outlining his thoughts on the future that the developing area could look forward to. The Metaverse “will happen,” but “any current efforts by firms to develop Metaverse will go nowhere,” the author acknowledges.

The parent company of Facebook, Meta, rebranded late last year to signal its commitment to embracing Metaverse, making it without a doubt the most significant firm to have demonstrated a specific interest in Metaverse to date. In his list of requirements for companies entering the market, Buterin singled out Meta.

“Anything Facebook makes now is going to be a bomb. It’s too early to know what people want.”

Over the years, Buterin has developed a reputation for being frank with people. He frequently writes about Ethereum’s technology and how decentralization might change the world on his blog and Twitter account.

He does research on the speculative side of the market and frequently speaks on NFT due to his surprise regarding the boom in 2021, but he rarely talks about the Metaverse.
