Digital artist Beeple has put in the work for the release of a new platform, We.new, in which iconic moments in art, fashion, politics, and sports will be sold as NFTs.
The platform represents a collaboration with several industry giants, such as Warner Music Group, Universal Music Group, TIME, Endeavor, and Wasserman.
We.new will organize auctions and direct sales of Ethereum-powered NFTs. The tokens that will be sold in multiple editions on We.new will rely on Polygon for layer-2 scaling.
Beeple is the highest-paid NFT artist in the world and commented how NFTs represent a change in how the public is allowed to celebrate memorable achievements.
He declared: “They give people a way to meaningfully engage with the memories and moments that matter to them — maybe even inspired them or shaped who they are in some way. We.new exists to facilitate and make concrete these once-abstract connections.”
NFTs available on We.new will give people the chance of securing real-world artifacts and unique experiences, such as physical sculptures, or opportunities for meet and greets with celebrities from the world of sports or arts.
The first auction will take place between July 2nd and 5th and features tokenized images that celebrate the moment in which Andy Murray won the Wimbledon Grand Slam in 2013. The highest bidder will get to play a game of tennis with Andy Murray (in real life, might we add), plus two tickets at the Wimbledon men finals in 2022.
