Sotheby’s will launch its own Metaverse-themed NFT platform thus marking its entry into the world of NFTs. The auction house has representatives in 40 countries.
The platform bears the name “Sotheby’s Metaverse” and the first auction is scheduled to take place on October 18th. It will include popular tokens by the likes of CryptoKitties, Bored Ape Yacht Club, and MoonCats.
The metaverse has under its umbrella several important collectors like PleasrDAo, 888, and Pranksy, alongside DJ Steve Aoki, and socialite Paris Hilton.
The note from Sotheby’s Metaverse reads:
“These collectors are people with deep histories and relationships in the digital art and media space, many of whom have been collecting long before NFTs become a common term and have helped build the ecosystem from the ground up.”
The platform will accept payments in Bitcoin, Ethereum, and USDC.
